INTRODUCING THE INSTANTOR

Instantor is known for its press solutions. A core product for the company is the Instantor Press System – an all-in-one solution combining press fittings and multi-layer Pex-Al-Pex pipe. Here, Andy Burton explains how the system works.

PRESS SYSTEM

The Instantor Press System is designed to be a quick and easy solution for plumbing projects on any scale; domestic, commercial and industrial. It removes the need for heating and plumbing engineers to use heat-based methods such as soldering. Using a press tool, the installer simply crimps the fitting securely on to the pipe in three easy steps: cut, calibrate and press.

The advantages of direct drive

Instantor’s latest press tool benefits from a brushless, direct drive motor instead of a hydraulic mechanism, delivering an outstanding, long-lasting performance. It is a high-speed press tool with three-second rapid press technology and a rotating head to provide easy access to difficult to reach areas. With an LED ring light, the press tool can illuminate dark areas for clearer visibility.

What’s more, the press tool has been ergonomically designed and optimised for single-handed operation. It has non-slip rubber grips and a carry strap, while its enhanced design includes an OLED display that shows press count, battery level, working pressure, maintenance reminders and fault codes. The tool also boasts an LED indicator that flashes green or red to show when the press status is complete.

Every decision made during the design process of the Instantor Direct Drive Press Tool was driven by the desire to create reliable and forward-thinking solutions that simplify tasks for installers.

Ensuring your press tool performs at its best

Routine maintenance and regular inspections are essential to extend the lifespan and ensure the safe operation of an Instantor Press Tool. Before each use, you should inspect the tool’s overall condition. This includes checking for loose screws or fasteners, ensuring there is no misalignment or binding of moving parts, and looking for cracked, worn, or broken components. Do not use the tool if any faults are detected.

Post-use care

After each use you should take time to clean the external surfaces with a clean, damp cloth, apply a rust-preventive oil to all exposed metal surfaces and dies, and store the tool in a dry environment.

General care guidelines

Keep the tool and all spare parts dry at all times. If the tool becomes wet, remove the battery immediately and allow the tool to fully dry before reinstalling. Avoid exposing the tool to extreme temperatures (hot or cold), as this may cause damage. Finally, do not use aggressive chemical cleaners or strong detergents.

Long-term storage

If the tool will not be used for an extended period, ensure the push rod is returned to its starting position, remove the battery, give the tool a thorough clean, apply rust-preventive oil to the tool and accessories, and store in a clean, dry location.

Servicing and calibration

Servicing should only be carried out by a qualified technician. Tools must be serviced and calibrated every 12 months, or after 20,000 press cycles (whichever comes first).

Instantor offers a compliant calibration service in accordance with Instantor’s ISO 9001:2015 Calibration Procedures. Following calibration, each tool is issued with an Instantor Calibration Certificate, which details the results for the tool. A record of the results will also be maintained by Instantor for future calibrations.

Three-year warranty

The standard warranty for the Instantor Direct Drive Press Tool is 24 months, but this can be extended to three years if the tool is registered and it is serviced and calibrated after the first year of ownership, or upon reaching the recommended maintenance cycle. The extended warranty gives installers added peace of mind that their tool is a reliable and durable piece of equipment. instantor.co.uk
